Meet the Artist
Kate is an internationally celebrated artist, having created projects for musicians like Katy Perry and Britney Spears, Broadway shows, viral campaigns and Hollywood movie posters while concurrently pursuing her path in the fine art world. Among Kate’s major influences have been her deep love of painting in all its forms from the Old Masters to Pop-Surrealism as well as the works of Joseph Campbell and his concept of The Hero’s Journey. She strives to magnify the larger than life aspects of imagination and message when she creates her works of magical realism. Kate believes that visual artists have a huge responsibility to create positive symbols that carry our human spirit forward.
Kate has always been an artist on the forefront of the digital world, as documented by chapters on her work in the book “Pixel Surgeons”. Her latest project Cirio: Bending Time delves deep into the properties of time and the brutality of beauty in the natural world by manipulating binary code of the images she presents.
A few highlights from her fine art career include solo shows including Nose Job, Women’s Work and most recently “Cirio: Bending Time” in Todos Santos and at Zona Maco with the prestigious Galleria Enrique Guerrero. Other notable exhibitions include : A Thousand Clowns” with Diane Keaton, Hybrids at La Luz de Jesus, The Raw Beauty Project and being chosen for the permanent collection at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. Many of the prints on the Palapa Society Studio Tour are available for the first time in Mexico.
