Meet the Artist
Steven Jacobi discovered ceramics almost by accident, having lost a coin toss with his sister over who would take a summer pottery class with their mother while home from college in North Carolina. He was lucky enough to work for four years under well-known Japanese ceramic artist Hiroshi Sueyoshi; acquiring an attention to aesthetic detail and craftsmanship that guides his work to this day. He went on to study and assist at a variety of colleges and studios where he learned a broad range of both traditional and cutting-edge techniques.
Steven has been producing both sculpture and utilitarian work throughout his career; recently exhibiting here in Todos Santos, in San Jose del Cabo, and in Mexico City at Galeria Alfredo Ginocchio as well as by invitation in el Senado de la Republica. Recent commissions include original art for Four Seasons, special dinnerware for chef Javier Plasencia and interior design pieces for Ritz-Carlton, Auberge and numerous private clients. He also founded Barro Sur Studio in 2020, providing the Todos Santos community with its premier location for ceramic classes, artist workspace and ceramic supplies.
